In January 2020, our Lead Pastor, Andy Pauwels announced that God is calling his family into a new season of life and ministry, and for a new voice to lead Gulf Coast Christian Church into the future. We are hopeful and excited for what the future holds for Gulf Coast. Our goal is to inform and to be transparent with our church family and guests throughout the entire process. See our latest update below:
5/10/20 - Over the past month, we have continued to stay in contact with our candidates. With travel restrictions starting to lift, we are making plans to bring one of the candidates in for an in-person interview weekend at Gulf Coast. The weekend date is to be determined.
4/7/20 - We are currently in a very good place with the lead pastor search. We have three exceptional candidates and are no longer accepting resumes at this time. Due to COVID-19, as soon as travel restrictions are lifted across the US, we will be moving forward with the process. In the meantime, we are keeping in regular contact with these candidates and getting to know them more.
3/8/20 - As we continue to search for a new lead pastor, please continue to pray for the one that God has in store for our church family. In addition, please pray for the preparation of your hearts in welcoming a new minister and his family on in the future.
We have received over 200 resumes for the position. We had narrowed that list to 23, and have since narrowed it down to 7 applicants. We have had initial interviews with all seven applicants and are preparing for in depth interviews starting this week.
2/3/20 - The last several weeks have been very productive, even as we prepare for Andy’s departure. The Elders and Staff have met multiple times over many hours to prepare and pray. We have been extremely grateful for Andy’s input into this process. All job responsibilities for Staff and Elders have been redefined and clarified as we move through the process of hiring our next Lead Pastor.
We have had a tremendous response in people applying for the Lead Pastor position. We are diligently sorting and praying through the resumes that have been received. We are not just trying to “fill” a position. We are looking for the right person that God has in store for Gulf Coast.
Please know that we covet the church's prayers during this search and commitment to our mission to Go to the unreached, Connect to make disciples, and Send disciples to impact their world.
